I'm going to be BETTER

With my new life, I am vowing to be better at a lot of things.

Now, please keep in mind, I do not have any more time in a day than I normally had. I am working two jobs, crazy-busy with school, and starting in the classroom next week for field experiences. I just simply do not feel as stressed out, and I have a ton more energy to expend on the things I want to.

My new found time has allowed me to reflect on one of my fave Bible verses:

"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

I have to remind myself of this daily. Sometimes, we all just need to slow the heck down...and take in all that is life. I definitely did not do this before. And I know things are slowly going to start getting busier and busier. But, the point is to remember to really take the time to "be still".

So, now that I have been "still" for a few days, I have reflected on being better at the following:

1). Keeping in Touch

This has always been one of my strong suits. Always, that is, until the last 1-2 years. I seriously have so, so many people that I love so dearly. And it has simply gotten more and more difficult to keep in touch on a consistent basis. Especially because I am married, live a million miles from home (so touching base with fam is top priorit), and we've moved three times...so the numbers keep rising with those I want to keep in touch with!

Luckily, for the peeps I love the most, I am able to go months without speaking to and pick right up where we left off.

But, I am going to be better!!!

Buds since kindergarten!

Sorority Sistahs - miss these gals!!!

2). Spending time with God

This is HUGE for me. I'm hoping to get back into reading my Bible, doing daily devotionals, and living my life for Him.

Still haven't been able to use my new Bible my in-laws got me for Christmas

3). More cooking, baking, and trying new recipes

I absolutely LOVE to cook. But...you'd never know it. Sure, I cook three or four times a week as it is, but I miss venturing out and trying new things. When we first got married, I cooked and tried new recipes every single night.

Chef Ruby is back in business.

Another Christmas present collecting dust - can't WAIT to try lots of recipes from this cookbook from my brother & sister in law

4). Be a better wife/daughter/mom/friend

Ha! Made you look. Yes, I said "mom". I love my new schedule because I can come home for lunch and spend time with the pups. And, the weather has been nice so I've been walking them every day. Oh, and of course I hope to be a better wife - it's already begun. Mr. Ruby and I have come home from work every night this week and just talked for an hour or two...about life!

As far as being a better daughter/friend - see number 1. Also, I want to be better about remember birthdays. Admittedly, I'm so terrible with that stuff. :(

5). Blogging

Yep. I said blogging. I know it seems silly, but blogging has become a critical part of my life. I seriously need it. I don't care if anyone reads or not...it is my stress outlet. I love it.

So, with that being said, I appreciate and truly LOVE the friends I've made through blogging. I am going to try to be so much better about blogging more frequently AND being a better commenter. :) I truly love every single comment I receive, and I would like to make others' days as well!

You sound SO much happier with your new jobs. It's like a whole new person coming to life! I think it's amazing that you've taken charge of your life and done what means the most to you. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll be making even more amazing changes in no time.
