Major-Town Memoir Monday

Memoir Monday

Well, this week's Memoir Monday is more like an autobiographical novel. So, I'm saving the details from the wedding we attended on Friday for a much-deserving post of its own.

Today's weekend recap is solely going to focus on HALLOWEEN! Please feel free to play along and comment so everyone can see your spookilicious costumes!

So, our Saturday began with staying in bed til 10 a.m. and chowing down on breakfast burritos (made by my cutie pie husband) and vanilla chi lattes. Annnnd we hung around in our p.j.'s until about 4:00. Just what the doctor ordered.

We finally got around, headed to our friends', ordered pizza and got ready for the evening's much-anticipated festivities.

Man, there were some CREATIVE costumes this year.

The Winning Costume: My wonderful friend turned her prince charming fiance into Kermit the Frog - completely by hand! So impressive!!! Another fave of the night was a homemade Sonic the Hedgehog costume. So cute! :)

Also included in the Halloween fun times: the best buffalo chicken dip I've ever tasted, my creepy crawly spider cupcakes, mummy wieners, a very convincing Snooki, a competitive game of beer pong, and ending the evening with some typical karaoke.

(I had to ask too. She went as "Someone threw trash in the recycle bin.")

My two FAVORITE pics of the night:

1). Snooki and the Muffin Guy from You Tube passed out at 10:00. (Not posed)

2). Group pic - Where's Waldo and Walda?!?!

How was YOUR weekend?!?!

Happy Halloweeny!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hope you all have had a Horrifying Halloween Weekend! It went by way too fast.

Make sure to play along with Memoir Monday tomorrow... I can't wait to see everyone's posts and pics with costumes! ;)

(Oh, and sorry for the overkill of exclamation points!!!)

FUN FRIDAY!

Happy Fun Friday!!! Go on over and play with cutie patootie Jen at A Girl in Pearls and a Boy with Toys. You won't regret it! ;)

This weekend is FULL of fun, exciting awesomeness.

Today, our friends our getting MARRIED! Just gave myself a mani-pedi, and I'm heading out soon to get a fresh cut and highlight. Ahh. I LOVE weddings!

The beautiful bride-to-be and I at another wedding

Oh, and I get to see my good bloggy friend Jen too! She's a bridesmaid. Small, small world.

Jen and I at the bridal shower

THEN, it's Halloweenie celebration time. I'm so excited for:

  • Our homemade costumes
  • The pups' costumes (our first time dressing them up. It took MUCH cajoling with Mr. Ruby. He still doesn't approve...)
  • The creepy, crawlie goodies I'm bringing to the Halloween Party
  • Checking out everyone's costumes
Word on the street this year is going to be a lot of Lady Gagas and Snookie and The Situation. So fun!

Last year was spooktacular...can't wait for this year to top it!

Mrs. Ruby = caught taking the part of Gretel a little to far

I have a rule.

Pic from our trip to Napa in September

No drinking on a school night.

Although I am a strong advocate for a glass of red wine or two, I simply do not drink anything during the week.

Except for special occasions, of course.

Last week, Mr. Ruby's sister and her husband stayed with us for a couple of nights before they headed up to Maine for their 10 year anniversary. We haven't seen them in around 3 years, so of COURSE this counted as a special occasion!

And what made it even more special, we decided to pop open the bottle we bought while visiting Napa Valley in September.

Oh man. Absolutely Delish.

And dangerous.

I mean, how could it not be with a name like Seduction?

This sequence of events may or may not have led me to start breaking my rule. ;)

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Yeah! I'm so excited to play Jamie's What I'm Loving Wednesday!

1). I'm LOVING that tomorrow is my FRIDAY because I have the day off on real Friday.

2). I'm LOVING that my hubby is back home and I can finally get a good night's sleep without having to check for boogie men and evil spirits.

3). I'm LOVING that this weekend is jam-packed with fun: A Wedding and Halloweenie

4). I'm LOVING Trader Joe's Mulling Spice. Seriously, I just simmer this stuff and it makes the entire house smell like spicy holiday goodness.

5). I'm LOVING Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless Eye Cream. This 27 year old is saying bye-bye to fine lines around the eyes.

6). I'm LOVING TRESemme's Dry Shampoo. I've talked about this stuff before. Seriously, I love it because I just spray it on when I'm in a hurry...no hair wash needed.

7). I'm LOVING spin class. I've also talked about this before. I have the most awesome, hard-core instructor with awesome jams. Seriously, it's the music that makes it. And I think I burn about 800 calories.

8). I'm LOVING that it's Hump Day. Happy Wednesday everyone!!! :)

Home Security

Between seeing Paranormal Activity 2 and sleeping by myself with Mr. Ruby away on a work trip, I have had difficulty falling asleep.

I mean, what if someone sneakily breaks in and comes up to kidnap me while I'm sleeping?

Or, what if I get dragged down the stairs by an evil force?

All these thoughts keeping me awake.

Then, I realized I was being absolutely ridiculous.

We have a home security system that would send even the most terrible of bad guys out of the house crying.

No one would even TRY to mess with me with this kind of security:

See ya later BAD GUYS!

Memoir Monday

Memoir Monday

**Welcome to my very first Memoir Monday post. I would love for you to play along- see how to play here!

As for my weekend...

Mr. Ruby departed on his birthday for a business trip, so I was left to fend for myself.

Now, I usually do stupid things to scare myself silly when the hubby is away...like watch horror movies or documentaries on serial killers who have never been found. Last time he went away, I went to a friend's house and watched The Strangers (a creepy movie about these crazies who terrorize a couple in their summer home). Was I startled? Yes. Did I go home and watch Teen Mom to erase all the images of the scary movie? Yes. Did I sleep with the light on? No. I got over it.

In fact, scary movies have never scared me.

Until last night.

I made the HUGE mistake of going to see Paranormal Activity 2.

Holy Terrifying.

Not only did I scream out loud three times during the movie, but the creepy images and scenes would not escape my mind. My heart was seriously pounding until...oh wait, it still is. So.Petrifying.

And just to give you an idea of how bad it was: I had my sweet friend ride with me 20 minutes to my house to pick up my dogs and 20 minutes back to her and her husband's house to stay with them. I seriously could not sleep alone in my house. (And I do it all the time when Mr. Ruby is away).

Even at their house, I was wide awake until 3 a.m.

Oh, and today, I was watching tv and saw a preview for the movie. I reached for the remote as fast as possible and hit fast forward. No lie.

So thanks a lot Paranormal Activity 2. Thank you for scaring the bejoobies out of me and for robbing me of my only shot at much anticipated sleep.

P.S. Even posting this picture made my stomach flip-flop.

Yes, I know it's Sunday

Memoir Monday

Welcome to an introduction of Memoir Monday!

So, I have been known to get a severe case of the Sunday Night Blues every.single.week. And I know many others out there live for the weekends just as much as I do, so I thought it would be fun to have something to look forward to by reliving our weekends through a Memoir Monday post!

Now, the purpose of Memoir Monday is simply to share what you did over the weekend through a story (mine usually entails something embarrassing), a picture (or two...or twenty-five), or even a successful recipe, new book suggestion, or quote that sums it all up. Even if you sat at home watching back-to-back episodes of Criminal Minds (c'mon, there has to be someone else out there that does this on an occasional Friday night) or read "How to knit for Dummies", let's hear about it! It's really just a weekend recap.

How to play?

  • Copy my adorable Memoir Monday button created by the beautiful and talented Rachel at RV Designs and paste it to the top of your post.
  • Post a comment so I know you're playing along!
  • And most importantly, have fun memoir-ing it !!! :)
Look for the first post tomorrow...
