Symbol of Wedded Bliss

Alright. What is the significance of this photograph?

(No, it's not that my fingers look deformed or that it is quite obvious we never practiced exchanging rings. Seriously, what was I doing?)

But, this moment was quite significant, my friends. The moment where we showed each other, our guests, and God how much we truly love one another by exchanging rings. The rings symbolize our commitment to one another and will always serve as a reminder of the vows we proclaimed on the happiest day of our lives.

Pretty powerful if you ask me.

Oh, and a little side note. I engraved Mr. Ruby's ring with: "At Last June 17, 2006". This was not only our first dance song, but we truly couldn't be more excited that we were FINALLY going to be together after 4 years long distance, and two deployments to Iraq. At Last.

So, you'd think Mr. Ruby would treat his ring like a 200 million dollar treasure, right?

Wrong.

You see, my sweetie has a problem with constantly playing with his ring. I can't tell you how many times I hear "ching, ching, ching" (the sound of the silly thing dropping and rolling to an unknown location).

Or, take for example, the time Mr. Ruby lost the ring for 9 months.

Yes, you heard me correctly. 9 months.

Luckily, right before I sold my Honda, I had a "feeling" and decided to have a friend's dad who owns a body shop take a quick peek in all the nooks and crevices.

And guess what? He FOUND it! The day before I sold my car. It had fallen into a hole that I didn't even know existed.

Oh, and this weekend, Mr. Ruby took me to a nice Mexican dinner. We were in the middle of a wonderful conversation when I heard that all-too-familiar noise: "ching, ching, ching".

I gave him the "death dagger" eyes. Poor thing looked terrified...like he was about to get hit by a car: Deer in the Headlights.

It had rolled under the table of this family who was trying to enjoy their burritos and enchiladas. Luckily, the father picked up the ring, walked over to our table, and looked at my hubby and said, "Is this important to you, Young Man?"

Ha!

You'd think he would learn his lesson, right?

Again, wrong.

The NEXT night, Mr. Ruby was playing with his ring at a friend's house and dropped it. He decided to keep watching football because he figured he'd find it later.

So, I did what any loving wife would do and took the opportunity to teach him a lesson. I took the ring and kept it for awhile.

Here's Mr. Ruby sweating it out, feverishly looking for the ring:

Finding nothing but some really old, stale candy:

I didn't let this continue much longer. I held out the ring. He shook his head and simply said, "I've gotta get this thing re-sized".

Good idea, Babe.

Do any of you married ladies' husbands have trouble playing with their ring?!?!?

My hubby doesn't wear his daily, only when we go out, so he is always playing with it! But I guess it is a good thing he doesnt wear it every day because he would definately lose it!!

Playing with the ring, nope. But taking it off in random spots and "forgetting" where, yes! And husband is always convinced it will show up. He swears that lost and misplaced are two very different things!

Awh, my hubs and I got married on June 18, 2005--mid June is the perfect time for a wedding, I'd say!

Ha, um, in our marriage, I'm the one playing with my ring. I have only "lost" it once--in a bag of dog food I might add, but, it's constantly under my desk at work or something. Such a bad habit!

Mine played with his all the time when we were first married. It drove me insane as I barely touch mine!

Haha if I was you, I would have been laughing at him while he was trying to find it at your friend's house. Of course that's after you got over the anger of him dropping it yet again!

YES! My husband is always playing with his ring too. Our officiant even joked that all husbands should have their rings engraved with "PUT IT BACK ON".

I work with a guy that is constantly playing with his ring! I always yell at him for it because if it were my husband, I'd want someone to do the same! :)

Eric doesn't play with his ring, but he takes it off a lot to cook, or wash dishes, or anytime else. I just leave it on all the time!

My hubby doesn't wear his ring because it doesn't fit anymore. He always tells me he's going to pick up chicks without it!

Oh my gosh! Hopefully he won't be dropping it or losing it anymore!

I swear this will be ME one day! I'm an incessant fiddler, and always take any rings off that I am wearing and spin them around, play with them, whatever!! I hope that changes when I get married one day. :)

Ha! Luckily Scott doesn't do this. You're too nice though, if it was me, I would have kept it a while longer just to make him panic and let the lesson really sink in :).

Matt takes his off and spins it around on the table sometimes. Super annoying!
