Week 16: Not-So-Sweet

Week 16: 12/02/12 - 12/08/12
Oh Miss Beans.

I'm sorry 16 weeks was not-so-sweet.

Last week was physically one of the toughest weeks I've had in a long, long time.

I got sick for a second time in 3 weeks.
*Joys of being a teacher.*
But this time, things were bad.
I had an upper respiratory infection, a sinus infection, and bronchitis.

And I have absolutely no days to take off work.
You know, because I used them all to give birth and hang out with you. :)
Oh. And after sleeping through the night for the first time for an entire week straight,
you decided to wake multiple times a night the moment I got sick.

Figures.

I was working. Pumping. Nursing. Waking up all hours of the night.
All while trying to fight some nasty infections.

I seriously felt like I wouldn't survive.

Luckily, I was able to take one and a half sick days (holy moly was my salary deducted). So I got lots of extra cuddles.

And also luckily, you slept until 5 am one day. This allowed me to get a *teensy* bit of sleep.

*You know you're a mom when you do cartwheels of joy over the fact that you get to "sleep in" until 5:00 a.m. Sheesh. *

But I learned two very important things:

1). I will continue to pray every.single.day. you find a man just like your dad to marry someday. Seriously, Chunk. He's amazing. I couldn't have gotten through last week without him.

He cooked. Cleaned. Took care of you. Played with you. Washed bottles. Did Laundry. Ran errands. Stuffed diapers. Packed my lunch. Picked up my medicine.
I must say, he made one cute stay-at-home dad.

2). When dad gets sick, the world pretty much stops. When mom gets sick, life gets busier than ever.

(Seriously. Gabe caught what I had a few weeks ago, and he was so miserable in bed one day that he just looked up at me and said, "I can't believe you have to keep going when you feel like this.") And it made me think. Yep. Life doesn't stop when moms get sick. In fact, I felt like I had more meetings, planning, and work to do than ever before.
Not to mention, a baby still has to eat. Therefore, mommy is not able to rest like before.

But I got better. Finally.
And I have to say, having you to make me feel better makes sick days a whole lot better.
