HELP! I need to plan a vaca!

Ok, so Mr. Ruby and I have been talking quite a bit lately about needing a major vacation! It has been amazing living in New England because there is so much to do...BUT, we feel like we need to take some time off work and really plan a good vaca.

So, I need your help. We want to plan something for our anniversary (which isn't until the summer). But we want a good start. There are so many...TOO many options. Cruises. Romantic getaways in the Caribbean. Wine country. Spa packages. New England-esque bed and breakfasts. The list goes on and on.

Where should we go? What should we do?

Although we are willing to spend some cash...we definitely have a budget. We don't want to break the bank.

I need some ideas!!!

We love the outdoors. We love to relax. We love the beach. What do we do?

I say all of the above :)

When are you planning on going? The time of the year could determine the best place to go!

If you love wine, you could go to wine country in california, plus its very close to san francisco which is a very fun city! I recently went on a cruise, and although it was fun, I felt very rushed in each destination! My bf and I decided that the next vaca would just be to one location. Hope that helps! Good luck! I love me vacations.

I'm a big fan of all-inclusive resorts. I went to one in Mexico and the Dominican Republic and it's such a fun, relaxing week. Plus there is always great nightlife right at your hotel! We booked through Expedia both times, it's so easy and you can see tons of pictures and virtual tours of all the different hotels. I think this kind of vaca is more relaxing than a cruise, and ends up being cheaper!

Hands down, definately, a Cruise! It's one of the best vacations ever and so incredibly relaxing! =]

If you are looking for somewhere tropical, the Riveria Maya is a good place to visit. I LOVE oceans and beaches!! We usually vacay to Mexico because it is reasonably priced, beautiful, and doesn't take all day in a plane to get there. Good luck!

Oh gosh we struggled with this too! We finally decided on the luxury resort, haha! Check out travelzoo.com for great deals!

Mmmm, a beach would definitely be my choice! My parents are going to Jamaica next week and I don't think it was too expensive so maybe somewhere like that?

I think you should go somewhere you can relax! Maybe an all-inclusive resort or a spa weekend or something!!

Hawk's Cay resort in the Florida Keys is one of our favorite's! There is alot to do in the Keys, and alot of it can be done for free! The most you will spend will be on you accomodations, and Hawk's Cay is one of the nicest in the entire island chain.

I think a cruise or anywhere in the Carribean is the most romantic!!! I want to plan a vacation like that for my boyfriend and I.

I've been wanting to do wine country in CA. It sounds so romantic and quaint. I've been seeing commercials for Sandals and Beaches advertising slashed prices. Might be worth looking into...

I'm always a fan of Mexico. We stayed at The Royal in Playa del Carmen for our Honeymoon and it was fantastic, all-inclusive and affordable.
I have a friend that went to Sonoma last year and loved it. They rented a limo 2 days and went to a ton of vineyards.

Vacation planning is so much fun! How about a cruise? You can get a really great deal of them and it's nice because you can visit more than one place. You can also spend some time relaxing and some time doing more adventurous things.

If you decide to go the cruise route, feel free to email me with any questions, recommendations, etc. I just planned one for my boyfriend and I over the summer and it was wonderful!

All those options look nice! The husband and I took a Caribbean cruise for our second anniversary. It was really nice... lots of relaxation time on the boat and plenty of events and spa services to keep you busy but also stops in exotic locals and fun excursions to book. The one thing I thought we'd get a lot of that we didn't really was beach time. For our 2nd anniversary, we are going to an all inclusive resort in Cabo. I'm really excited about this one because we will have lots of beach/relaxation time and can go off on fun adventures, too. Plus, we don't have to pay for drinks (which ran up a big tab on the cruise). We are going in 2 weeks so I'm sure I'll have a full report on Cabo if you are interest. Plus I can tell you lots about the Royal Caribbean trip to Jamaica/Cayman Islands, too. While I'm gone to Cabo I plan on posting recaps of our cruise last year. Good luck deciding. Wherever you go you will have lots of fun just to get away together!!

Well... not sure I fit in with all the "young" posts...but since you are from the midwest, how about a july or august week, in a tent, on Fall River lake??? (just a joke) tell Gabe hi... hope you are not freezing!!!

Disneyland! Kidding. Okay - I would go to Santorini right now if I could. Can you imagine? Gorgeous.

Ang! Hi! So, I found your blog a while ago and just now found it again! This time I'm adding it to my bookmarks!

Ok, so Brian and I just booked a cruise for this March. We went through hotwire - they are soooooo cheap!!! When I called to finalize everything, the lady helping me said that cruises right now are the cheapest they have ever been - even cheaper than right after 911. So she said now is absolutely the best time to go because the cruise lines are absolutely giving rooms away.

So, I vote for a cruise! It's a moving all inclusive resort, with a spa and awesome food 24 hours a day! You can't go wrong! :)
