Awareness

The U.S. State Department estimates that 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders annually. These victims, mostly women and children, are forced into prostitution, domestic servitude, or manual labor.  - Today's Christian Woman

Please take a moment to learn more about this tragedy as today is  National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

On a lighter note, I reached a monumental moment of lame-ness today. I went to a movie...by myself. Mr. Ruby had a lot going on today, and the weather is pretty nasty out, thus I couldn't drag anyone along with me. So, I swallowed my pride and went alone.

I walked up to the counter and said "One for Twilight please". The girl gave me a funny look, but I went on to the snack counter to get myself a large Diet Pepsi. Then, I went into the theatre...alone...and saw several teen couples and groups of teenage girls. They all looked at me as if to say "Wow, this old hag lame-o actually came to see a teeny-bop love story...completely by herself."

Needless to say, I absolutely LOVED Twilight. I normally hate movies after I've read the books...but it was cast so perfectly and the story line followed the book pretty accurately. I loved it I loved it, and I can't wait until the second movie comes out!

Oh, and now I have a thing for vampires.

Wow, I'm so proud of you for going to a movie all by yourself! I loved Twilight too, and am guessing all the teen in the theater thought I was too old as well! Oh well, it was fun!

Yeah, I'd much rather hit a theater with an automatic ticket kiosk... those are a whole lot less judgmental.

I almost had to see Twilight by myself, but I was able to drag a friend. I totally would go, though. It's such an amazing movie!

You are so much braver than I am! I haven't gone to a movie by myself but have thought about it before. I loved Twilight, even though so did all the 13 year olds we were surrounded by! What book are you on now?

I loved Twilight too. I think it was cast very well. I breezed through the first 3 books and it is taking forever to get through book 4. I love the series.

I totally wish I could've gone with you! I've already seen Twilight, but I'd totally see it again. I, also, have a thing for vampires now... :)

Thank you for sharing that. I saw an incredibly powerful movie about Human Trafficking a few months ago called Taken and it really opened up my eyes to this issue.

(Love your blog, by the way!)

It's so liberating to go to a movie by one's self, isn't it? Sometimes I will do the same...I love it. I get the popcorn all to myself ;)
