A little B-Day present from Mr. Ruby. (So what if he used his AMEX reward points to buy him AND I new shoes).
The Nike LunarGlide +2 Women's Running Shoe.
No, I have no idea what that even means...but it sounded pretty hard core. Besides, these bad boys make me look like a real runner. So what if I can really only run about 2 miles in my current-out-of-shape-state. At least I'm making a fashion statement while I run, right?
And you know what's even more awesome? I call them my new tennis shoes. Believe me, I get a bunch of awkward stares because absolutely no one knows what I'm referring to. I get corrected quite often: "Ahem, sneakers." You East Coasters know what I'm talking about. :)
Does anyone else call all athletic shoes "tennis shoes"...or my favorite "tennies"??? Come on Mid-Westerners...fess up!!!
P.S. Oh, and this reminds me of an awkward moment during a meeting I had last week. I was in a training class/seminar with a bunch of other people, and the trainer was from Michigan (Woo-Woo Midwest representin'!!) And, he began talking about how kids shouldn't be drinking "pop". Again, the awkward stare thing. He corrected himself and said, "err...uhh...soda".
I literally almost jumped out of my chair, and I burst out by saying "Oh my goodness! I say 'pop' too!!!"
I couldn't control myself. I never ever hear Mid-Westernisms out here! I was excited all day. :)

Midwestern over here! And I constantly say pop and tennis shoes? There is other ways to say it?! lol
Love the new shoes! Running is no excuse for not being fashionable! ;-)
MIDWESTERNERS UNITE!!
when I lived in florida, they teasted me ALLLLL THE TIME!! In my pre-school classroom for the longest time it was me and two others (both florida natives)...
THEN
by some miracle from above..
another midwestern girl came to my classroom! So it was two against one!
We called our shoes tennis shoes.
We called soda pop.
AND....
We called loli pop's suckers.
p.s. LOVEEEE the new (TENNIS)shoes! SOO CUTE!
Cute new SNEAKERS! :)
Cute sneakers!! I say soda now but used to say pop. Conflicted :)
yes, yes, yes! I call them tennis shoes or tennies and everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. I'm a Michigan gal living in Maryland, so I totally get the midwestern vs. east coast vibe. I also call it pop, not soda!
Yay for midwesterners!
And, to Brittany.. yes, we call them suckers not lollipops! :)
I love those! And I call them tennis shoes!
the first time i mentioned tennies when we lived in new hampshire i got all sorts of weird stares. now that we live in connecticut its worse.
i switched to saying soda when we lived in california, but one thing i cannot get used to is calling a water fountain a bubbler. what does taht even mean?
I love those!! So cute!
And, it is definitely "pop"!
You can wear your wicked cute sneakers to walk yourself to the soda machine or the bubblah!! I think you're all set! ;)
I definitely say tennis shoes too! But I'm from California and not the Midwest.
