According to two of my third graders, I was wearing way too much makeup today.
Ok, so maybe they aren't used to seeing me with much makeup on. I do go to work in a t-shirt jeans, and grungy tennis shoes most days because we play outside and get dirty. Most days I wear a minimal powder, blush, and mascara. I mean, I always have to wear a little bit of mascara because my eyelashes are transparent.
Today (like every Thursday), I was dressed nicely and actually had on a wee bit of eyeliner. It was my day to actually observe in a classroom, and of course I wanted to look nice and professional. So, I looked a bit more girly than I usually do...but it's not like I was wearing a lot of makeup. At all. Seriously.
So, I went to the school to pick the kiddos up and two of them ran up to me and the following is our conversation:
Kid #1: "Whoa Miss 'Ruby', you are wearing WAY too much makeup today!"
Me: (Saying nothing) I looked at her in a very perplexed manner.
Kid #2: "Yeah, you just really put your face on way too thick today."
Kid #1: "You just kind of look gothic."
Me: "So, maybe I am gothic."
I honestly couldn't think of anything else to say.
But just to prove that kids say the darnedest, see below for my "massive" amounts of eye makeup:
Seriously???

That's funny. What they meant to say was that they love you just the way you are! :)
ROTFL That is so funny. I ran into a student recently who is now 19 (I taught her when she was 12-13) and her biggest memory of me was how pretty my nails always looked! The things they focus on. ;)
That is so funny! You never know what will come out of a childs mouth.
It's funny the little things about you that kids will notice. When I worked after school care I used to always wear my hair up in a ponytail. There were a few times when I had my hair straight and wore it down. And the kids, (really only the girls) were a little obsessed with it. I pretty much made a point to rarely wear it down after getting such a big reaction for such a small thing.
WHOA! Pipe down on the eye make up lady! Haha so funny....but also kind of refreshing that kids can appreciate and prefer your natural look!
I used to work in a school and one time one of the first graders told me it looked like I had dirt on my face from my makeup. Thanks! Kids sure don't hold back :)
OMG... so funny!! My dad always told me when I was a kid that I wore too much makeup... and it was the same amount that you were wearing!! I had no idea what he was talking about. But great post girl, I LOL the entire time I was reading it.
Happy Weekend Everyone!
