It could be worse

My husband just says the darnedest things.

I think he could have his own reality show. Seriously.

Those that know him know exactly what I'm talking about.

Last night, we were chatting about baby names. (Stop right there. No, there is no bun in this oven).

We went through a plethora of girls' names we liked...and then we got to boys. Nada. Seriously, why is it that boys get jipped in cutsie little baby clothes and names?!?

Then, Mr. Ruby had a suggestion for a name. And this is our our convo went:

Mr. R: Hmm. Well, what about George?

Me: (Laughing) Aww. That's funny.

Mr. R: No really. I like George.

Me: Oh Wait. You're serious?

Mr R: Yeah, I mean, George is just such a handsome name!

Me: Oh dear.

George really is a fine name. I simply just can't fathom walking around with a baby who wears baby clothes and does baby things...named George.

I just don't know where he comes up with this stuff.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

George is our #2 baby boy name. #1 will be James. In the event we wind up with #3, he will be Elliot, haha. We love love love old men names for babies!

It's funny, we have talked baby names until we are blue in the face, but never ever disagree. It's been really easy! Now we just need to agree on when to have said baby...

I know a baby named George and he is CUTE.

Also we have the opposite problem--we can't agree on girl names!

I like the name but anytime I hear it I think of George from Seinfeld.

George is a popular name in my family, but I do not think that I will find myself using it... Mary is another popular one... those were both my Grandparents names, but I will have to figure something else out... a little modification!

Heheheh, cute :-) You're right, boys get stuck with not-so-fun names. As far as the "older man" sounding names, I like the name Henry (the last name Henderson is in our family, so it would kind of be an omage to the name) but my sister has called dibs ;-)

Hehe! I think it is cute, in a funny old-man sort of way. We couldn't agree on any boy names either - good thing we have girls! ;)

That is totally true -- DH and I have about 15 girl names that we both love, and we BARELY can come up with ONE boy name that we think is tolerable!

I'm with you. George is an old person's name. or a monkey's. take your pick.

(in case you missed the reference, I was referring to Curious George)

Haha great story! Men come up with such funny ideas :)

We have a few boys names picked up, but not as much luck with the girls. Apparently we are going to have all boys....please let me have one girl! :)

Trust me. I'd rather have ten traditional names like George or Jim then half the idiot names parents have named half the kids I teach. I cannot stand that parents think they are being creative by switching letters around in names and totally making names look one way and being pronounced another!!! Be kind to your kid! old school names are the best!!!! :)

I babysat a little boy when I was in high school who was named George but his mom called him Georgie. SO CUTE! BUT what I hate about names like that is...when do you stop calling the kid the cutesy name? I have an uncle Tommy...who probably should be called Tom but I still see him as the pimply teenager who played barbies with me when I was 5. Lol.
